Science Art Mentorship Program

CCRI Students Blending Art And Science In Unique Exhibition Funded By NSF Grant

The Summer 2026 Mentorship Program offers a unique interdisciplinary experience, blending scientific research with studio art. Students from both Biology and Art Studio backgrounds are invited to apply. Participants will engage in workshops at leading research laboratories, where they will learn techniques for capturing, manipulating, and displaying images essential to scientific inquiry. These techniques include illustration, microscope photography, video, 3D imaging, and the creation of physical 3D models. Based on these workshops, students will apply a design process to create original art and design work for a public exhibition scheduled at CCRI in September 2026. Students are encouraged to experiment, pursue their creative concepts, and produce personally meaningful projects. Guidance and mentorship will be provided by faculty from CCRI’s Art and Biology departments, along with special guests.
