Figure Model Position

Figure Model - Art, Art History and Design Department at CCRI

The Art, Art History and Design Department at the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) is seeking a figure model for life drawing and related art classes. As a figure model, you will be asked to pose in a variety of settings—nude, semi-nude, or clothed—depending on the specific needs of the instructor and the course.

The role requires a willingness to be part of an artistic process, contributing to the development of students' artistic skills by providing a human subject for their studies. If you are comfortable with different types of poses and are interested in working in a collaborative and respectful artistic environment, we invite you to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend scheduled modeling sessions and follow the directions of the instructor, artist, or photographer.
  • Pose in a variety of positions and for varying lengths of time, from a few minutes to several hours.
  • Maintain stillness and composure during poses to support accurate representation in drawings, paintings, or sculptures.
  • Adjust body positioning, including small shifts of limbs or torso, to achieve the desired pose.
  • Communicate any physical discomfort to the instructor or studio manager promptly to ensure your safety and comfort.
  • Foster a professional and respectful atmosphere in the studio or classroom setting.

Requirements:

  • Must not be a current CCRI student.
  • Prior experience as a figure model is a plus, but not required. We are willing to consider applicants who are new to modeling.
  • Physical stamina and flexibility to hold static poses for extended periods (sometimes up to 20-30 minutes at a time).
  • Comfort with posing nude, semi-nude, or clothed, depending on the requirements of the session.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with artists and photographers to achieve the desired result.
  • Punctuality and reliability in attending scheduled sessions.
  • Professionalism and respect for the collaborative nature of the creative process.

To Apply:

Please follow the link to submit an application. You may send a portfolio, recent photographs (ideally including full-body images), and/or your resume to [email protected] in addition to completing the application form linked below. No previous modeling experience is required, but it is preferred.
