Exhibition: No Bodies in Heaven
March 4, 2026 - March 27, 2026
Liam Fifer — pen name Leia — is an interdisciplinary studio artist from Woonsocket,
Rhode Island, blending process-driven mediums into work that functions as a tool for
storytelling and expression. With a current focus in fibers and soft sculpture, Fifer
approaches the medium to externalize and visualize concepts of the human experience
that hover in-between physical and the liminal; they are attracted to experimental
processes that reflect the individual and shared perceptions of the many worlds grounded
in and outside of the body, the spirit, earth, and the metaphysical, which they connect
to from the perspective of a person with multiple disabilities and chronic illnesses.
Their work has been shown in curated exhibitions at the Warwick Center for the Arts,
won honorable mentions at the Providence Art Club, recognized in Motif Magazine, and
emerged from group showings through independent and underground venues. Fifer is a
Community College of Rhode Island alumni, graduating in 2025 with an Associates in
Fine Arts. One of their goals as an artist is to change access and employable opportunities
within the arts to be equitable and available for other members of working-class,
marginalized communities across Rhode Island. They are currently a member of the Water
Fire Arts Center's Water Fire Accelerate 2026 cohort.
