Welcome to Art, Art History & Design

The Art, Art History & Design Department at CCRI provides students with a strong foundation in studio practice, visual literacy, historical understanding, and contemporary design thinking. Through coursework in studio art, design, and art history, students develop creative, technical, and analytical skills that support transfer, professional growth, and continued study in the visual arts.

Students work with practicing artists, designers, and scholars in studio and classroom environments that encourage experimentation, critical inquiry, and portfolio development. Across disciplines, coursework emphasizes both creative exploration and the ability to communicate ideas through visual form, research, and critique.
