Maritime Rigging
In collaboration with the Westerly Education Center and Electric Boat, CCRI enrolls students in maritime rigging courses that prepares students to work at Electric Boat. This course will prepare participants with the rigging skills and knowledge for industry employment requiring the application of basic rigging knowledge in maritime manufacturing environments.
The course covers the topics of safety, relevant tools and equipment, binding, chafing gear, hardware for rigging, hoists, pendant cranes, rigging calculations, and slings. Participants will also learn and apply the companion skills of critical thinking, teamwork, communication, leadership as well as readiness to work with an emphasis on completing work that is procedurally compliant, on time, and within budget.
In order to participate in this program you must apply to Electric Boat and be hired as a Outside Rigger. This is a post employment training program for Electric Boats Quonset Point facility and is funded through Real Jobs Rhode Island, please apply here.
