CLEP registration is primarily done online at the CLEP section of the CollegeBoard
website.
CLEP Homepage
The first thing that the student must do is create an account on this page. Students
who have taken the SAT test or any AP testing in the past should already have an account;
CollegeBoard administers CLEP tests, the SAT test and AP testing. Enter some personal
information and they'll set up an account for you.
Once your account is created, follow the link below to select the exam(s) you want
to take.
Choose an Exam
You will also be given an opportunity to purchase study materials. The cost of these
are not waived for military members, but they may be helpful. Once the exam(s) you
are ordering is/are added to your cart, you should check out.
REMINDER: DANTES will fund students currently serving in the military, not veterans. Student Veterans may be eligible for reimbursement
through the GI Bill® ( GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official
U.S. government Web site at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill. ).
CollegeBoard will ask you a series of questions about yourself, your military history
(the pertinent question being "Are you eligible for DANTES funding and are not a veteran?"
This should be answered "Yes".) and why you are taking CLEP exams. The site will outline
how DANTES will pay for your testing, and the retest policy (DANTES does not fund
students retaking a test).
You will be asked to choose your testing center. The easiest way is to search for
CCRI by zip code (02886, Warwick). If you ordered study material, you will be asked
to put in a shipping address. On the page after this one, there will be a question
asking if you plan to seek reimbursement from the VA for the test fee. If you are
currently serving and answered yes to the DANTES question from earlier in the registration
process, do not put a check mark in this box.
The site will ask you where you want to send your score. Select "Send to college or
university". You'll want to search for CCRI again using the zip code here. If you
wish to send your scores to another institution, you may do that as well, but you
can only send them to one school at this time.
The next screen will have you review your test order. The test fee should show as
waived on this screen. You will still have to pay for any study materials you may
have ordered. If your order looks accurate, confirm it.
You will then be directed to a confirmation page. You should print this out, as it
will serve as your ticket to the examination. The final step is to contact the CCRI
testing center to schedule an appointment. This must be done in person because the
testing center needs to see your military ID in order to waive the $30 administration
fee. Be sure to bring your confirmation with you!
