Summer Readiness Program

Join our FREE two-week virtual bootcamp and fast-track your path to graduation. Program participants can have access to a CCRI laptop to complete the program and have the ability to earn a small stipend upon successful completion of the program.

Our summer readiness program provides personalized and intensive instruction in writing and math to get you ready for college-level coursework. One of our primary goals is to limit the number of developmental education classes our students take by better preparing them for taking the ACCUPLACER test. Upon successful completion of this FREE program, students will retake the ACCUPLACER test (retake fee waived) and should place into college-level courses this fall.

Math courses for the Summer 2021 semester will be held via the following four teaching styles

On-Campus

Courses will be on campus with a set meeting time.

Distance Learning (DL)

A method of studying in which lectures are broadcast or classes are conducted by correspondence over the Internet, without the student's needing to attend a school or college.

Remote/Asynchronous Learning RM/AN

A method of studying in which lectures are broadcast or classes are conducted by correspondence over the Internet, without the student's needing to attend a school or college. In this method, students learn from instruction—such as prerecorded video lessons and learning tasks that students complete on their own—that is not being delivered in person or real-time similar to DL.

Remote/Synchronous Learning – RM /SY

A method of studying in which lectures are delivered in real-time, but not in person. This method of teaching incorporates forms of education, instruction, and learning that occur at the same time, but not in the same place. For example, educational video conferences, interactive webinars, chat-based online discussions, would all be considered forms of synchronous learning.

  • Students are required to participate at the time their class meets.
  • The lectures are delivered in real -time through various platforms such as blackboard.
  • It is like a virtual classroom that allows students to ask questions and their instructor to answer them instantly.

Important Information

Fall 2018, the Math department at CCRI will be making changes to courses and sequences that will make it easier for you to thrive in the classroom, and have a clearer path to graduation and transfer.

The newly designed curriculum, which was developed by a dedicated Curriculum Redesign Committee, offers three significant and progressive changes:

  1. Developmental Education Reform
  2. Introduction of a New Statistics Math Pathway
  3. New Course Numbering System

These changes will save you money, time, and frustration. Best of all, they will set you on a more efficient path to graduation and transfer.
