JAA Programs Learning Outcomes

Computer Science BA - Associate in Arts (RIC)

Mission:

This program constitutes a JAA transfer program to RIC. Students completing a JAA plan receive an Associate's degree and enter the receiving institution with 60 credits and Junior status. Students must complete all requirements as given. Depending on GPA, students receive a tuition discount of up to 30% at the receiving institution, a waived application fee, and personalized advising.

The Bachelor of Arts degree at RIC requires fewer courses, and you have freedom to add a minor(s) or double major to pursue other interests. For potential employers, a minor in cyber security, data analytics, or other areas could set you apart from other candidates.

Computer Science BS - Associate in Arts (RIC)

In the Bachelor of Science degree at RIC, you are required to take additional courses in mathematics, science, ethics, and writing. Because of the additional courses in math and science, it is considered a more rigorous degree to earn, and some employers are interested in knowing you have that rigor to master the math and science required.  Designing and programming complex systems does require more math and science knowledge.

Computer Science BA - Associate in Arts (URI)

Mission:

This program constitutes a JAA transfer program to URI. Students completing a JAA plan receive an Associate's degree and enter the receiving institution with 60 credits and Junior status. Students must complete all requirements as given. Depending on GPA, students receive a tuition discount of up to 30% at the receiving institution, a waived application fee, and personalized advising.

This program is designed for students who prefer more space for interdisciplinary study with a double major or minor in another field while preserving a strong computer science background that is excellent preparation for a career in computing.

Computer Science BS - Associate in Arts (URI)

Mission:

This program constitutes a JAA transfer program to URI. Students completing a JAA plan receive an Associate's degree and enter the receiving institution with 60 credits and Junior status. Students must complete all requirements as given. Depending on GPA, students receive a tuition discount of up to 30% at the receiving institution, a waived application fee, and personalized advising.

This program is recommended for students who want to pursue technically focused careers that require strong mathematical and scientific preparation and those interested in computer science graduate studies.
