Basic Spoken
Upon completing a Basic Spoken level course, using the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, a successful student will demonstrate linguistic and cultural awareness and sensitivity in several topic areas.
I. Students will be able to take part in basic conversations and participate in simple exchanges, such as:
- Greetings
- Asking and giving directions
- Ordering food and drink
- Asking for lodging
- Describing people and things
- Telling time, using dates and basic weather terms
II. Students will be able to interpret written language in topic areas such as: menus; signs; advertisements; transportation timetables
III. Students will be able to identify the countries where the target language is spoken.
IV. Students will be able to discuss the main characteristics of the target language
cultures such as:
the principal holidays and the traditions associated with them.
NB. The order of topics may vary according to course or language.
