Bilingual Early Childhood Education
Build professional skills in a bilingual program that includes foundational English skills for success in college!
CCRI, in collaboration with the Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner, is now accepting applicants for a Bilingual Early Childhood Education certificate pathway. This program is free for students and offers a stipend to offset any costs of attending.
Early Childhood Education Certificate Classes as scheduled:
- November 28, 2022 - March 10, 2023 (12 weeks)
- March 19 - June 30, 2023 (15 weeks)
- August 21 - December 8, 2023 (15 weeks)
- January 28 - May 10, 2024 (15 weeks)
All classes will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings with some Saturday sessions on days to be determined.
There are two ways to join:
If you have NO credential and/or limited experience with family childcare, first EARN
Child Development Associate (C.D.A.) credential
START: September 27, 2022
- Take pre-test with score in the correct range for English language learning.
- Attend required orientation Sept 24
- Provide proof of HS completion
- Stipend awarded upon completion
The C.D.A class lasts 7 weeks. Students will learn study and writing skills for college,
and complete the nationally recognized Child Development Associate (CDA) program. This program ensures that childcare educators are prepared to meet the developmental,
emotional and educational needs of children in their care, and it is recognized by
RI Bright Stars in program evaluation
If you have some experience in family childcare and have completed the Child Development
Associates (C.D.A.) Credential, you may qualify to join the first RI-BEST Class in
November 2022.
- Take pre-test with score in the correct range for English language learning.
- Provide proof of HS completion
- Attend required orientation Oct 15 (At this orientation you will complete the College Application) Stipend awarded upon completion of first credit class.
- Completion qualifies you for free tuition and support to complete the 6 remaining courses in the full certificate program.
This class is required for acceptance into the tuition-free cohort of the Bilingual Early Childhood Education certificate program.
The full program includes tuition and support for all classes in the Early Childhood Education Certificate. Participants who take and pass all classes will complete the program in December 2023.
