DTADecember 8, 2022

The Community College of Rhode Island recently announced Providence, RI, resident Taiwo Adefiyiju as its new Dean of Students.

Adefiyiju will lead all aspects of the Dean of Students Office with the goal of providing a vibrant and engaging college and campus experience for CCRI students. In addition, she will oversee The Tutoring Center and Disability Services for Students to ensure that every student has access to the necessary academic support services they need to thrive at CCRI.

Adefiyiju previously served as the Assistant Dean of Students & Director of Cultural Education at Providence College, where she collaboratively led the Campus Assessment Response Evaluation (CARE) team, interdepartmental intervention and support team for students with behavior concerns; developed and implemented success plans for underrepresented students struggling with a variety of issues; and worked with campus partners to facilitate student success programs.

Beginning in July of 2020, she also served as Providence College’s Assistant Title VI Coordinator, a role in which she promoted educational, working, and living environments to ensure all students, staff, and faculty were treated with dignity and respect; and provided leadership and direction to Campus Life offices in an effort to further promote cultural awareness.

During her tenure at Providence College, Adefiyiju served on multiple committees in support of student engagement and success including the Multicultural Scholarship Program (MSP) Selection Committee, the Financial Aid and Scholarship Appeals, the Multicultural Student Success Committee, the Providence College Reunion Planning Committee, and the Alumni and Family Weekend Committee. In addition, she served as a member of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation Committee, where she chaired the student celebration subcommittee program for the weeklong event.

In addition to her Student Affairs leadership and experience, Dean Adefiyiju was also an adjunct faculty member at Providence College and a Residential Tutor Counselor for the Rhode Island College Upward Bound Program.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Policy and Management from Providence College in 2014 followed by her Master of Education in Higher Education with a concentration in Student Affairs from Loyola University. Dean Adefiyiju is currently a Doctoral Candidate in the Education Leadership Program at Johnson & Wales University.
