CCRI Volunteer Programs

The Office of Institutional Advancement is pleased to introduce the CCRI Volunteer Programs!
These programs will connect CCRI students with CCRI alumni, community and corporate leaders with different opportunities; to prepare, inspire, and encourage students navigate college and be career ready.

Oftentimes first-generation student navigating the complexity of college, help share motivation and support as students balance family, jobs and college.

COACH

COACHING4SUCEESS!

A coach is a guide, and extra sounding board for a CCRI student.

The commitment:
  • 10 months, Sept – May 
  • 1 meeting per month, virtual or in-person
Coaching4Success program includes:
  • Breakfast Orientation
  • Benefit of network with other mentors
  • Exposure to new and different perspectives
  • Expectations and strategies to make this a valuable experience for all

 COURSE COACH – short term relationship

Share your knowledge with individualized learning experience and provide support to a student who needs some extra help with their coursework.

 Commitment
  • 1:1 matching with student in area of expertise, meeting on agreed schedule
  • 1-hour commitment once per week for a semester (12 weeks)

SPEAK

GUEST SPEAKER

Inspire, motivate, students - tell your story!

Commitment
  • One-time commitment (1.5 hours)
  • Scheduled monthly

 Benefit to giving back to your alma mater and enhance your own professional development through researching, designing and delivering your presentations

CLASSROOM CONTRIBUTOR

Inspire students in your field! Invitation into classroom with one of our CCRI professors. 

 Commitment
  • One-time commitment (1.5 to 2 hours)
  • Scheduled monthly

  • Share with students your field of expertise and inspire for career exploration
  • Professional experience
  • Ability to expose students to a different point of view and real-world experience

VISIT

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS

  1. Path Days:
    • Help students understand a particular area (i.e. business, education, or healthcare) as an alumni or panelist sharing your story/career experience 
  2. Mock interviews:
    • Help student prepare for interview by asking questions and giving feedback
  3. Resume workshops
    • Review a student’s resume and help with edits/re-writes
  4. Financial literacy
    • Coach on special financial literacy topics per curriculum
  5. Networking
    • Join a group of students and volunteers as students practice their elevator pitch and you offer yours
Commitment
  • These tend to be one-off, one-time volunteer opportunities that last no more than 30 minutes to 1 hour
  • Scheduled monthly
