Fall Readiness - Shareable Course Templates

Sharable course templates have been developed collaboratively with departments and experienced faculty for several highly enrolled courses to meet the goal of increasing the consistency of the student learning experience and to support faculty teaching with Blackboard.

What is a shareable course template?

There is diversity in the details of each template, however, they share some common characteristics. A shareable course template:

  • Builds on the CCRI Blackboard course template for a consistent student menu navigation.
  • Includes core course information, such as schedule, documents, links, materials, assignments and assessments.
  • Needs your guidance, passion, encouragement, and presence throughout the course.

How do I use a template?

  1. Reach out to your department chair to see if there's a template for your class.
  2. If there is, you will receive a .zip package of the template. Do not open the package.
  3. Import the package into your fall course shell by:
    • Save the .zip package to your hard drive.
    • Login to Blackboard and go into the course you are using.
    • Find Packages and Utilities under the Course Management menu.
    • Select Import Package/View Logs.
    • Click on Import Package on the green bar.
    • Under "Select a Package', choose Browse My Computer and locate the .zip file.
    • Under 'Select Course Materials', choose Select All then Submit at the bottom right.
    • You will receive an email when the package is done importing.
    • Reach out to IT if you have difficulties (note, you may get 'Warnings' which are normal. You should not get errors.)
  4. Use this Guide to help you customize the template to become your course.
  5. The CIT and e.co teams are available to help you along the way.
