Welcome back to all CCRI students and faculty as we begin the 2021/22 academic year! It is delightful to see so many of you back on our campuses now that we have resumed a majority of our face-to-face classes. Congratulations to the entire CCRI community for our collective efforts to adapt successfully to the unprecedented challenges created last year by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic!
I am very pleased to share with you the Ad Hoc Assessment Committee (AHAC) Final Report. In October 2020, I created the AHAC initiative to provide an opportunity for CCRI faculty and staff to engage in a comprehensive academic evaluation process designed to document the impact of COVID-19 on teaching and learning at the College. Faculty represented eighty percent of this 48-member group to ensure that every academic department at CCRI participated and was represented during this intensive evaluation process.
From October 2020 through May 2021, AHAC members met on a weekly basis to analyze, deliberate, and document the impact of COVID-19 on CCRI’s students. Kudos to the outstanding members of the AHAC team who generously and productively undertook this additional intensive work during such a demanding and stressful 2020/21 academic year.
The resulting AHAC Final Report was completed and forwarded to me in July 2021. This report skillfully documents the dramatic historical impact of COVID-19 on teaching and learning at CCRI. Additionally and even more importantly, the report provides far-reaching, thoughtful and concrete recommendations that Academic Affairs has already begun to implement to positively impact our students.
After you have reviewed the AHAC Final Report, I know you will join me in thanking the forty-eight faculty and staff members who participated in this outstanding CCRI assessment effort.
Best wishes to you all, for a healthy, successful and enjoyable 2021/22 academic year!
