LAB SESSIONS

Engineering

Harness the Wind, Harness the Sun

Look inside a wind turbine and a solar cell and find out how they produce energy. Students will use a solar cell to power a DC vibration motor, the same type of motor that vibrates your phone when it is on silent.
Mathematics

Math Logic, Riddling, and Puzzling

Students will have the opportunity to think creatively by performing activities involving  math logic, riddles, games, and puzzles.
Business

The Design Sprint

Learn how designers “Build to Learn” when creating new product ideas.  This lab includes hands-on, interactive exercises that are used to find solutions to design challenges.
Chemistry / Chemical Technology

Under Pressure

Explore how pressure and temperature shape our world. Experiment with how low pressure affects every day phenomena in surprising ways.
Biotechnology

Mystery of the Crooked Cell

A bank robbery, a drop of blood, and a genetic twist. Students use forensic techniques to solve a crime!
Occupational Therapy

Guess the Occupational Therapy Gadget

Learn how to measure grip strength and explore
adaptive equipment/tools used to help people
perform daily tasks as independently as possible.
Geology

Dwayne, Chris and Kid – which rock is which?

Guiding students through methods used to understand how to distinguish the three types of rocks.
Computer/Cyber

Capture the Flag - Cybersecurity Heroes Wear Digital Capes

Cybersecurity is all around us. Learn how items or messages can be hidden in different pictures or websites.
Engineering

Using Wind to Charge Your Phone

Wind Energy Fundamentals & Activities: Generator power measurement and testing in the Wind Tunnel.
Medical Laboratory Tech. & Phlebotomy

Exploring Careers in the Clinical Lab

Students will have the opportunity to perform simple, hands-on testing and observe demonstrations by our lab technicians showcasing daily clinical procedures.
Fire Science

EMS Rodeo

Students will be introduced to some of the real-life interventions in pre-hospital EMS by current students and EMS faculty.
Nursing

Your STEM Superpower: Applied in Nursing

Discover how nurses apply biology, chemistry, tech, and critical thinking to tackle real-world health challenges and make a difference in their communities every single day.
Physics

Shaping the Airstream: Coandă Effect, Magnus Effect, and Vortex Rings

Students use curved surfaces, spinning balls, and a vortex cannon to see how air can be attached, bent, and structured, turning speed and shape into dramatic sideways forces and long-range momentum.
