Film / Media Concentration

Some Communication and Film/Media classes will be taught through Blackboard with enhanced learning from a variety of other creative, educational and social platforms.

Students will NEED the following technologies:

  • Computer (PC/Mac) with a strong internet connection
  • Webcam and microphone (built-in or external)
  • Ability to record audio and video (for COMM 1100, Public Speaking)

The associate degree in Communication and Film/Media with a concentration in Film/Media provides students with an education in the film and media disciplines.

Students graduating in this program receive an Associate of Arts degree and are prepared to enter the workforce.

OUTCOMES:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to design and complete the development, production, and distribution phases of content creation
  2. Communicate visually and/or aurally an idea, emotion or story using fictional narrative, documentary narrative, and experimental forms
  3. Operate film/media cameras, sound, and lighting equipment on a remote or studio shoot; use and apply principles of editing and post production-techniques
  4. Understand film/media's greater role in a global context and discuss major historical developments that have influenced it from its birth to present
  5. Demonstrate critical thinking and aesthetic judgment skills, both verbally and in writing, in the analysis of film/media as an art form and entertainment medium
