Executive Administrative Assistant Concentration

The Executive Administrative Assistant concentration prepares students for careers such as executive assistant, administrative assistant, or administrative office manager.  Students who successfully complete the program have a background in Microsoft Office applications, administrative office procedures, customer service skills, and parliamentary procedures. Career opportunities for the graduates of this program are expected to remain constant.

The program trains students to perform a variety of tasks encountered by the executive administrative assistant involving decision-making, accepting responsibility, and managing an office. 

Upon completion of this program students should be able to:

  • Read, understand, and prepare standard types of business documents
  • Possess appropriate technological skills relating to office management procedures 
  • Communicate effectively in spoken and written forms within a professional environment as would be expected of an executive administrative assistant 
  • Demonstrate effective organizational and resource management skills
  • Demonstrate appropriate critical thinking skills 
  • Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills as would be expected of an executive administrative assistant 

Medical Administrative Assistant Concentration

(This program is currently suspended and not accepting new students)

The Medical Administrative Assistant concentration prepares students to perform administrative and clinical duties. Some responsibilities encountered by graduates include preparing medical correspondence, assisting physicians with medical reports and histories, and arranging for patient hospitalization, including insurance and billing practices. This is currently considered one of the fastest-growing occupations.

This program provides the highly technical training necessary for a competent medical administrative assistant. 

Upon completing this program students should be able to:

  • Read, understand, and prepare standard types of medical documents, including patient charts and physician notations 
  • Possess appropriate technological skills relating to medical office management procedures 
  • Communicate effectively in spoken and written forms within a professional environment as would be expected of a medical administrative assistant who deals with patients, physicians, pharmacies, and medical specialists
  • Demonstrate effective organizational and resource management skills  
  • Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills as would be expected of a medical office administrative assistant
