Immunization & Health Compliance Policy

Participation in Healthcare Programs are subject to requirements established by the Rhode Island Department of Health, as well as applicable state and federal regulations. Students must comply with all standard immunization requirements for healthcare workers, as outlined in the Immunization Form for Health Sciences Students subject to your specific program.

In accordance with current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state public health authorities, vaccination against COVID-19 and influenza is strongly recommended. At this time, COVID-19 vaccination is not federally mandated; however, requirements related to COVID-19 vaccination, influenza vaccination, boosters, masking, and exemptions are determined by individual employers and clinical placement sites.

Students are responsible for meeting all site-specific health and safety requirements, which may include proof of vaccination, booster status, or adherence to masking policies during periods of increased transmission.

Medical and religious exemptions must be documented in accordance with applicable regulations and must be approved by the clinical site, when applicable. All documentation must be provided by a licensed healthcare provider or in accordance with established exemption procedures.
Program requirements are subject to change based on updates to public health guidance or clinical partner policies: CDC Covid-19 Vaccine Guidance 25-26.
