CCRI hires Dorn as assistant professor teaching film

Jon Dorn of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, recently was named assistant professor in English at the Community College of Rhode Island, where he teaches communication and film/media.
Dorn has served as an adjunct instructor at CCRI since 2017, teaching courses in mass media and video and audio production. He previously taught visual and media arts at Emerson College and Bridgewater State University. He is owner and cinematographer of Four String Films in Fairhaven, and manages a freelance film and video production team. He previously owned and operated Brewster Productions, an event and concert production management firm based in Plymouth.
Dorn’s film work includes the official music video for Kingsley Flood’s “To The Wolves,” which was an official selection and Audience Award winner at the 2016 SENE Film, Music and Art Festival in Providence in 2016 and the animated music video for “Never Seen Runaway” by Jay Kill & the Hustle Standard, featuring hand-drawn illustrations and cartoons with stop-motion animation. It was an official selection at the 2014 SENE Film, Music, and Art Festival and the 2013 Silversonic Music Video Showcase at Emerson College and Rhode Island Comic Con Animation Showcase in Providence. He is an accomplished cartoonist who created “Cartland” (www.cartlandcomic.com), a coming-of-age web comic about a 16-year-old who works at a go-cart place. He earned a Master of Fine Arts from Emerson College and a Bachelor of Arts from Skidmore College.
