Club Swimming Starts Season Well at BSU Invitational!

Warwick, R.I. – December 11, 2019: The CCRI Knights Club Swimming team participated in the Bridgewater State University Invitational on Sunday, December 8th. Sophomores Josh Hernandez (Cranston, RI) and Antonio Gonzalez (Cranston, RI) represented CCRI in the four-team invitational. Both swam extremely well in the first competition of the season and earned CCRI a third-place finish with 61 points.

Josh Hernandez swam three events on the day placing second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1 minutes 55.67 seconds, second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.61 seconds and third in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.26 seconds. Hernandez led the Knights with earning 38 points for the team.

Antonio Gonzalez participated in two events, setting new personal bests in both. The first being the 100 yard breaststroke where he shaved four seconds off his personal best and completed the event with a time of 1:07.4 and earning fourth place. Gonzalez finished the 200 yard breaststroke with another personal best time of 2:32.63 taking third place. Gonzalez earned 23 points for the Knights to bring the team total to 61.
