Introductory Motorcycle Experience (IMEu) combined with the 2- Wheel Basic Rider Course
(2W – BRCu)
The Introductory Motorcycle Experience (IMEu) is a class for the unsure beginner who
wants to get introduced to the motorcycle learning experience at a much slower pace,
in a smaller group setting. This is a formal course designed to be an introduction
to the motorcycle. It is a participant’s “first experience”, not a learn-to-ride
or licensing course. The overall aim is to have participants experience a motorcycle’s
primary operational characteristics. A goal is for participants to see if motorcycling
might be something they would like to pursue. If you are looking for a slower paced,
smaller group, more personalized 2-wheel Basic Rider Course (BRCu) this may be the
option for you.
The IMEu is a four-hour class usually completed at a separate time prior to the start
of the (BRCu). However, we are combining them over three separate meetings and keeping
the group the same small personalized size. After the IME you will move into the
Basic Rider Course (BRCu) to work toward your license. The (BRCu) is for anyone seeking
a 2- wheel motorcycle license, this course meets the requirement of the state Motorcycle
Rider Safety Course. The lecture portion of the course will be ONLINE, and it is recommended
that this taken within 30 days prior to your first (IMEu) range. (Unless otherwise
directed by a CCRI administrator). The Range portion of the course will be IN-PERSON.
It is illegal in Rhode Island to ride a motorcycle without a motorcycle endorsement
on your license: DO NOT ride your motorcycle to classes or ranges. CCRI provides all
training motorcycles. Riding gear, i.e., helmets, boots, etc., are not provided and
is the responsibility of the student.
