Planning the Perfect Picnic (2 hours)

This interactive culinary experience teaches participants how to design and execute a well-balanced, portable menu ideal for outdoor dining. Through hands-on instruction in CCRI’s professional teaching kitchen, participants will learn food safety best practices for transporting and serving meals, along with make-ahead strategies that reduce stress and maximize flavor. The session focuses on building cohesive menus that travel well, maintain quality, and elevate the traditional picnic into a thoughtfully curated dining experience. Participants will leave with practical skills, recipes, and confidence to plan and prepare memorable outdoor meals. 

When: Launch Mid-June

Summer Grilling & Chilling (2 hours)

Designed for all skill levels, this hands-on course introduces participants to essential grilling techniques while expanding their ability to build bold, seasonal flavors. Under the guidance of CCRI culinary instructors, participants will work with a variety of proteins and vegetables, learning proper timing, temperature control, and preparation methods. The class also explores marinades, rubs, and flavor layering, paired with the creation of complementary cold sides and refreshing beverages. By the end of the session, participants will have a well-rounded understanding of how to execute a complete summer grilling experience with confidence and creativity.

Summer Salads as Meals (2 hours)

This course redefines salads as complete, satisfying meals by focusing on composition, balance, and seasonal ingredients. Participants will gain hands-on experience creating both composed and tossed salads, learning how to integrate proteins, textures, and flavors into cohesive dishes. Instruction emphasizes ingredient selection, knife skills, and dressing preparation, all while showcasing how fresh, locally available produce can elevate everyday cooking. Participants will leave with the ability to create nutritious, visually appealing, and restaurant-quality salads that function as standalone meals.
