The Brent Henderson Excellence in Filmmaking Award was established in 2016 in Brenton Gray Henderson’s memory, to honor a single individual
for their talent in the art of filmmaking and dedication to the film program and college
community. The recipient is selected and honored at the annual CCRI Student Film Festival,
with the award presented by a member of Brent’s family or designee.
The recipient must be a filmmaker who exhibits an extraordinary talent for the craft,
is generous in assisting other students, has achieved academic excellence and is dedicated
to advancing the college community through filmmaking.
Brent was an extraordinarily talented filmmaker and CCRI graduate. He served as the
President of the New Media Group and founded the first ever CCRI film festival in
2012. Brent's contagious sense of humor, intelligence, generosity, and artistic gifts
touched everyone who met him. He is sorely missed.
