Instructional Fair
Instructional Fair Poster Presentation Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in the instructional fair poster session. The Instructional Fair will take place as part of Spring Symposium on Monday, May 11, 2026. If you have any questions about these file guidelines for poster submissions or about the poster session in general, please contact CTE for help ([email protected])
The goal for the Instructional Fair is for faculty to create a poster presentation that showcases instructional excellence that may lead to enhanced teaching and learning at CCRI.
Instructional Fair posters can have various focuses:
- Option 1: Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Research: Your own original classroom research.
- Option 2: “Action” Presentation: An innovative assignment, activity, or assessment you have used successfully in your own classes.
- Option 3: Research Review: Summarize and review someone else’s work on teaching and learning and how it applies to the CCRI community.
Submission Guidelines
- Please let CTE know as soon as possible that you plan to present a poster.
- The final poster file should be sent to [email protected] as a .pdf.
- If your final poster is submitted to CTE by May 6th, CTE will print the poster for you as a 24” by 36” laminated poster at no cost to you.
Poster Guidelines
-
The poster should have a width of 36’’ and a height of 24’’.
-
To create a poster with these dimensions, use Powerpoint or Google Slides (or similar program) and change the page layout.
-
In Powerpoint, this is found under Design -> Slide Size -> Custom Slide Size.
-
In Google slides, this is found under File -> Page setup -> Custom.
-
-
All content should fit on a single slide.
-
All text should be readable. Use an easily legible font (e.g., Gill Sans MT or Times New Roman) with a size of at least 24 for body text.
-
Use multiple text boxes with headings and subheadings as needed.
-
Include visuals with short labels for clarity but remember, too many visuals may distract the reader.
-
The poster should be self-explanatory: A reader should be able to follow the poster from start to finish, understand the content, and come away with conclusions on their own.
-
CTE is happy to print the poster for you, if submitted to [email protected] by May 6th.
-
If you miss this deadline you will be responsible for your own poster printing.
Your poster should answer these 5 questions, where applicable:
-
What did you do?
-
Why did you do it?
-
How did you do it?
-
What did you find?
-
What is the relevance to improved teaching and learning?
