How do I get help with my HESI A-2 preparation and studying?

You can schedule a one-on-one consultation with an Academic Coach through the Tutoring Center. These personalized sessions are designed to help you:

  • Develop a customized study plan

  • Establish a study schedule that fits your life

  • Access targeted resources and strategies for each test section

  • Which program you are taking the HESI for
  • Your planned HESI test date
  • Your campus locations for meetings 
  • Your online availability
  • Days and times you can meet

What are some helpful tips for studying for the HESi A-2 exam?

  • Know the Test Sections: Focus your efforts on all four core areas.

    • Math

    • Grammar

    • Reading Comprehension

    • Vocabulary

  • Use Supplemental Tools: Boost your understanding and retention using:

    • YouTube – Search for “HESI A2 prep” videos

    • Quizlet – Find flashcard sets for vocabulary and key concepts

    • Khan Academy – Great for reviewing math and grammar fundamentals

  • Take Practice Tests:

    • Practice regularly to identify strengths and weak areas

    • Focus study sessions on the areas needing the most improvement

    • Retake tests until your scores consistently meet your goals

    • Many free and low-cost HESi A-2 practice tests are available online

  • Use Recommended Books:

    • Look for trusted HESi A-2 prep books that target the exam sections

    • Check your campus library for copies available for borrowing

  • Build a Study Plan:

    • Start early and plan out specific topics for each session

    • Create a realistic study schedule that includes studying most days of the week, even if only for short sessions

    • Find ways to consistently practice/study over time rather than cramming
