Learning Commons
The Learning Commons pulls together the Library with other academic support services at the college, including Academic and Career Pathways, the Tutoring Center and Academic Coaching, and the Writing Center, under one umbrella to create an ecosystem of student support.
How we can help you:
Academic and Career Pathways
- Find an academic identity in one of seven academic and career pathways
- Meet with your faculty “Pathway Navigator” for career mentoring
- Find information about your path and connect with students with similar interests in Digital Learning Communities (“DLCs”) on Blackboard.
- Come to Path Days to meet industry professionals and explore academic and career options.

Library
- Laptops, WiFi Hotspots, and iPads available to borrow at the circulation desk
- Get help with research assignments by making an appointment, connecting on chat, or visiting in-person at any of our four main campuses
- Online resources available 24/7 anywhere
- Come use our comfortable study spaces. Large tables for quiet study groups, soft seating for relaxing, and study carrels for individual study

Tutoring Center
- Use Starfish to schedule tutoring appointments to clarify course concepts
- Meet an academic coach to discuss organization and study strategies
- Study space, whiteboards, and Anatomy learning models available at all Centers

Writing Center
- Visit us for help with prewriting, drafting, and revising writing assignments for any class
- Writing a research paper? Come to us for help with documentation systems (MLA, APA, and Chicago)
- To guarantee your timeslot, make an appointment using Starfish for in-person or virtual tutoring

Academic and Career Pathways

Promote programs and courses in your department through Pathway-specific Digital Learning Communities (DLC’s) on Blackboard

Partner with faculty Pathway Navigators to create career panels, announcements, and opportunities for student engagement with your department

Join us at Path Days, New Student Orientations, Open Houses, and other enrollment events to connect with students interested in your offerings

Speak with a librarian about aligning research-based assignments with library resources

Schedule a library instruction session tailored specifically to your class

Adopt OER textbooks, or place your course textbook on Course Reserves for students

Tutoring & Academic Coaching Center

Schedule an academic coach to visit your class to provide students with an overview of organizational and study strategies

Submit a Starfish Early Alert referral for students who are experiencing problems that affect their academic performance

Refer students to in-person and online tutoring and coaching appointments

Recommend a student to be hired as a peer tutor and request a tutor to be an imbedded class or lab tutor for your course

Schedule a classroom visit by one of the Writing Center staff members

- Get help with Blackboard and other supported Instructional Technologies
- Access instructional technology documentation, video tutorials, and guides
- Request instructional technology, instructional design, and course quality consultations
- Register for professional development programs, workshops, and webinars
- Receive guidance in instructional design for effectively teaching with technology
- Get advice on Blackboard accessibility best practices
