VOE Decision Tree Examples

Overview/Guidance on Academic Engagement Examples

Important Info

Faculty will need to reverify their roster each time a student has added or been reinstated to a course after the initially reporting of VOE.

The VOE reporting page will now display a last date of attended field. A date will be populated after VOE is submitted. When a student is reinstated, the field will be blank. This should help instructors understand their roster needs to be reverified. The last date of attendance field will be updated once the VOE is resubmitted.

When submitting 8 or more no-shows (NS), email jatomasino@ccri.edu before the the nightly drop to confirm submission. If email isn't sent, the NS is pulled back for Department Chair/Academic Dean review. Faculty will then need to resubmit VOE before the reporting deadline.

To reinstate a student after a VOE drop:

  • If the faculty member approves, they can add the capacity/instructor approval override code.
  • The student would then receive an email informing them that they are allowed add themselves back to the class.
  • The faculty member would need to reverify the class roster once the student’s name is back on the list.
    • Note these steps can be followed through mid-term. After that period the faculty member should contact the Cathy Tessier or Jude Tomasino to add the student back to the course.

Steps for a student to re-enroll after drop for non-payment (DFNP)

  • The student requests an electronic override from the professor to allow them to re-join the class.
  • The student makes payment arrangements at any One Stop Student Services Office. Then the Bursar hold will be lifted.
  • The student can then re-enroll in the class. If they need help or have questions, they can stop by any One Stop Student Services Office or contact the staff by phone at 401-825-2003, by text at 401-310-0555 or by email at onestop@ccri.edu.

Verification of Enrollment (VOE) for Students

CCRI is obligated to verify that students are academically engaged in their courses as part of the Federal Financial Aid requirements. Therefore, it is essential for students to attend their classes, complete assignments by due dates, and stay in contact with their instructor(s).
