Ryan Ridgely is a Rhode Island native. He graduated from the Warwick Public Schools, then studied Life Sciences and Geology at the University of Rhode Island. In the summer of 2000, Ryan went to Ohio University for graduate studies.

The last 25 years were spent at Ohio University in the lab of Larry Witmer, studying the anatomy of dinosaurs, birds, and crocodilians. Ridgely found his calling in CT scanning all sorts of animals, from Tyrannosaurus rex to modern rhinoceros, and digitally reconstructing their tissues.

Most of Ryan’s research is in the field of paleoneurology in dinosaurs, which is the study of brain evolution in deep time. He has excavated dinosaur fossils in Montana, Wyoming, and New Mexico. He has coauthored over 30 publications and has produced exhibits for museums around the world
