The Foundation of an Education

Welcome to the Community College of Rhode Island’s Division of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

The eight departments in this division are Art, Art History & Design, Communication and MediaEnglishHuman ServicesPerforming Arts, Psychology, Social Sciences, and World Languages & Cultures. These disciplines not only are the backbone of most programs at the College but also provide the foundation of an educated person. The AHSS courses allow students to develop the love and discipline of learning while building vital skills such as critical thinking, the power of analysis, appreciation for diversity of expression, and an overall preparation to understand and face the challenges of modern society.
