Setting Up a Recurring Zoom Meeting for Virtual Substitute ASL Interpreters
Opening Zoom in the Classroom for Virtual ASL Interpreters
1. Open Google Chrome
2. Type ccri.zoom.us into the address bar
3. Click Sign in.
4. Select Meetings from the menu on the left side.
5. Hover the mouse over the list item labeled Today to make the Start button appear
6. Click Start
If you have never used Zoom on this computer, you may need to download the Zoom application. The message below will appear. See step 19, then return to step 7.
7. Select Open Zoom Meetings
8. Turn on Video and click Start
9. Test the speaker and microphone (be sure the speaker on the desk is turned on)
9a. If the above picture does not show on the screen, click on the arrow to the right of the microphone in the bottom left corner of the screen. Then select Test speaker & microphone.
10. If the speaker and microphone are working click, Yes. If not, select Try Another Speaker.

Select the following:

Speaker: PJ Sony
- Microphone: Codec

- When finished, click End Test
11. Again, click on the arrow to the right of the microphone in the bottom left corner of the screen. Then select Audio settings.
- In the Microphone section:

Raise the input volume to 100%
- Turn off automatically adjust microphone volume
- Click the x in the top right of that settings box to get back to the Zoom screen

12. If you are using the whiteboard/no slides, adjust the camera to view the whiteboard (ensure the camera lens is open).
The interpreters need to see the course content for context when signing. Please do not have the camera facing students (FERPA).
13. If using slides for instruction:
- Open your slides on the computer
- Hover the mouse at the bottom of the Zoom screen and click on the green Share button
- Select your slides from the new display on the screen
- Click Share
14. When class is finished, click End in the lower right corner of the screen.
15. Then select End meeting for all.
16. Sign out of Zoom.
17. Sign out of your account on the computer.
18. Shut down or restart the computer.
19. If you need to download Zoom onto the classroom computer, click on the download arrow in the top right corner and drag the cursor to select the Zoom download link (this will only have to be done once).
