First Day Complete Program for Faculty
CCRI’s First Day Complete program is a course materials model designed to lower costs for students and ensure they are fully prepared from the first day of class.

How It Works
CCRI’s First Day Complete program is a course materials model designed to lower costs for students and ensure they are fully prepared from the first day of class. For a flat rate of $21 per credit, students receive all required textbooks, access codes, lab manuals, and digital materials for their courses, with print materials provided through the CCRI Bookstore and digital content delivered through Blackboard.
The program does not change faculty choice—faculty continue to select the materials that best support their course—and its success depends on timely submission of course material adoptions so students receive the right materials without delay. By removing cost barriers and providing day-one access, First Day Complete supports student engagement, persistence, and overall success.
Frequently Asked Questions
First Day Complete is CCRI’s new course materials model, launching in Fall 2026 in partnership with Barnes & Noble College. It is designed to reduce the cost of course materials and ensure that students have access to all required materials before the first day of class. Instead of purchasing materials individually, students will be charged a $21 per credit fee. The CCRI Campus Bookstore will prepare physical materials for pickup, and digital materials will be delivered directly through Blackboard.
This model simplifies how students get their materials and helps set them up for success from the start. Students receive all required materials by the first day of class and save an average of 35–50% compared to traditional purchasing. Early access to materials supports stronger engagement, participation, and overall academic outcomes.
Faculty play a critical role by submitting course material adoptions by the established deadline each semester. Timely adoptions ensure that all materials—print and digital—are ready and available to students on the first day of class.

The program includes all required course materials selected by faculty, including textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and digital resources, in the format you choose.
The program does not include consumable items that cannot be returned and reused, such as lab goggles, dissection kits, molecular model kits, engineering kits, or nursing kits.
All CCRI courses are included in the First Day Complete model, and faculty do not have the ability to opt individual courses out of the program. However, faculty retain full academic freedom in selecting course materials.
Students may choose to opt out of the program each semester. Those who do will be responsible for purchasing their course materials on their own, either through the CCRI Campus Bookstore or other sources.
Before the semester begins, students will receive an email prompting them to select their preferred delivery method for physical materials (in-store pickup or home delivery). They will receive a follow-up notification when materials are ready. Digital materials will be available in Blackboard when the course opens.
No. Faculty retain full academic freedom. You may continue to select any course materials, from any publisher, in any format. There are no restrictions under this model.
No single publisher can provide all required course materials across disciplines, formats, and platforms at the lowest possible cost. This model leverages Barnes & Noble College’s scale to provide a comprehensive and cost-effective solution for students.
First Day Complete is built on a flat, below-market rate that reduces the overall cost of materials. By combining purchasing power across all students and courses, the program delivers significant savings—typically 35–50%—compared to traditional models.
Students may have the option to purchase certain materials, such as textbooks, at a reduced rate during the return period.
To ensure students receive their materials by the first day of class, faculty are expected to submit all course material adoptions to the CCRI Bookstore by the published deadlines each term.

Adoption deadlines are communicated in advance by the Bookstore and Academic Affairs and are typically set several weeks before the start of the semester. Meeting these deadlines is critical to the success of the First Day Complete program and to ensuring students have timely access to materials.
There are no changes to the way departments currently submit the course materials information to the store. Each department should continue to use the method of submission that they currently use.
We recognize that teaching assignments can change. If you are assigned to a course after the adoption deadline, please submit your course materials as soon as possible and notify the CCRI Bookstore.
The Bookstore will work quickly to source and deliver materials; however, late adoptions may result in delays for students, particularly for print materials. Early communication helps minimize any disruption.
If you need to update your course materials, please notify the CCRI Campus Bookstore as soon as possible. The bookstore will work to ensure students receive the correct materials.
If your course assignment changes, the CCRI Campus Bookstore will work with you to update your course material adoption and ensure students receive the correct materials.
When a student changes their course schedule, they will receive instructions for returning materials and will be prompted via email to select delivery preferences for any newly added courses.
Yes, the $21 per-credit cost is on a per-term basis.
Students will receive a reimbursement if they withdraw within CCRI’s add/drop period. Any withdrawals after the add/drop period will be reviewed by BNC staff on a case-by-case basis.
Per-credit charges are applied to the Student Account and will appear as separate charge from tuition. Like tuition, the outstanding charges will not affect the student’s ability to attend classes or access course materials while they settle their account.
Digital course materials are delivered within 24 hours of BNC receiving the registration feed from CCRI (the feed runs four times daily). Physical course material timeline will vary depending on current stock of the materials at each campus store location.
Students who experience issues accessing digital materials should contact Bookstore Customer Care at [email protected] for assistance.
Yes. Students are charged based on the total number of credits they take in a semester, not by individual courses. Students who prefer not to participate in the program may opt out for the term and will then be responsible for purchasing materials for any courses that require them.
The CCRI Campus Bookstore and Barnes & Noble College work to ensure that course materials are accessible and can accommodate students with documented accessibility needs.
