Community Programs and Services

Current Initiatives

Community First will increase access to a number of new and existing programs in partnership with some amazing organizations. Below are just a few examples of the work that is already underway.

Existing CCRI Community First initiatives include:

Parent University

  • Partnering with the Providence Public Schools Family and Community Engagement team to increase education opportunities for the whole family

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

  • Offering trainings as a credit bearing course for community partners to deliver training

Early College Expansion

  • Partnering with the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and the Providence Public School Department (PPSD) to launch the Accelerate program; Accelerate is specifically designed to make early college programs accessible for students in these communities. 100% of the first cohort graduated from high school with an average of 18 college credits, and 90% went on to pursue a post-secondary opportunity.

  • Working in underserved districts to increase college readiness for graduating seniors through targeted Math and English Language Arts.
