7-Week Sessions
A 7-week session schedule can enable you to begin and finish courses more quickly, leading to more timely completion of your degree!

I really enjoyed taking a 7 week course opposed to the full 15 weeks. As someone who hasn't been in school for a while, it was hard to take on a full time schedule right from the start but having a course finish earlier than the others has been extremely helpful.

In a 7-week session, you will complete the same material, earn the same number of credits, and achieve the same learning outcomes as your traditional 15-week course, but in half the time. You will cover the same material, receive the same level of instruction, academic support, and engagement, but in a shorter timeframe.
You’ll focus on fewer classes at once, which allows you to fully immerse yourself in your coursework. Keep in mind that the pace is faster, so your weekly workload will be more concentrated and require strong time management and personal responsibility.
Because the pace is faster, is especially important that you start your course on time, know your class schedule, attend consistently, and stay actively engaged from the first day of the session. Missing even one class or falling behind early can make it difficult to catch up. You should plan your time carefully, keep up with assignments and deadlines, and maintain regular communication with your faculty if questions or challenges arise.
Taking 7-week classes can offer you several advantages:
- You can focus more deeply by taking fewer classes at once, which can improve your motivation, participation, and retention of material.
- You can build momentum by completing courses more quickly, helping you stay engaged and motivated.
- You can reach your goals faster by finishing courses in less time.
- You may improve your time management by concentrating on 2–3 classes at a time instead of 4–5.
- You have built-in flexibility with a one-week break between sessions to recharge.
- If something disrupts your schedule, you can get back on track faster without waiting for a full semester to restart.
Yes. You will pay the same tuition for a course, regardless of whether it’s offered in a 7-week session or traditional 15-week semester. In a 7-week course, you are still completing the same amount of material and earning the same number of credits as you would in a 15-week course.
It might. Your financial aid can be affected depending on how many credits you take and when you take them. It’s best to check with Financial Aid to understand how your specific situation may be impacted.

You will register for full-semester, 7-week Session I, and 7-week Session II classes at the same time during the regular registration period.
Yes. You can take 7-week courses in multiple modalities, including online, hybrid, and in-person.
That depends on your learning style. The 7-week format is more intense and fast-paced, which can help you stay engaged and retain information—but it may not suit everyone. You should consider how you learn best and whether a shorter, more concentrated format fits your goals.
Yes, you can mix them—but you should plan carefully. It’s a good idea to talk with your Student Success Coach to make sure your schedule is manageable. Remember, you can take up to 18 credits total in a semester. If you are enrolled in a 7-week course, it is recommended you take no more than three courses at one time.
You can make changes before the add/drop deadline. However, changing your schedule could affect things like financial aid, scholarships, or loan eligibility if you need to maintain a certain enrollment status. Check with Financial Aid before making changes.
If you are using financial aid, it’s recommended that you enroll in both sessions at the same time. You should confirm your plan with your Student Success Coach or a Financial Aid advisor.
If you’re using Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits, your monthly housing allowance (BAH) depends on your enrollment status and session length. Taking 7-week courses may change your payment amounts, so you should check with the appropriate office for guidance.
If you have questions about your schedule or whether 7-week sessions are right for you, reach out to your Student Success Coach. You can also contact the Advising Center for support.
I like taking a 7-week class because I will have a full semester class done in only half a semester. This has really helped as I do work full-time.
