Recommend a Student for a Peer Tutor Position

Our department relies on faculty to recommend students to be considered for our Peer Tutoring program. Your recommendations are vital to the growth of our tutoring services. Peer tutors must have earned a minimum grade of B in the subjects they wish to tutor, be enrolled in a minimum of six credits, and maintain a 3.0 GPA to be considered for the Peer Tutor position. To recommend a tutor, please submit this Peer Tutor Recommendation Form or email Stephanie Carter at [email protected].

Early Alerts through the Knight Success Hub

The Knight Success Hub allows faculty to play an active role in the early identification and support of students who may be experiencing academic challenges. Early alerts give students valuable time to connect with support services, develop effective learning strategies, and begin working with tutors or academic coaches before challenges become more difficult to address.

Once an alert is submitted, Tutoring Center staff will reach out directly to the student to help connect them with appropriate tutoring and academic coaching resources.

Classroom Visits & Mini Workshops

Help your students build strong academic habits and confidence in your course by scheduling an academic coach to visit your class. Academic coaching presentations can introduce students to effective organizational, textbook reading, note-taking, time management, and test-taking strategies that support success across disciplines.

Sessions can be customized to your subject area and are available for both online and in-person courses. For more information or to schedule a class visit, contact Stephanie Carter at [email protected].

Request an Embedded Tutor

Embedded tutoring helps bring academic support directly into the learning environment. In this model, a tutor attends the lecture and/or lab portions of a course and is introduced by the instructor as an additional academic resource available to students both during and outside of class. Embedded tutors can help reinforce course content, encourage student engagement, and support the development of effective learning strategies. Depending on the needs of the course, tutors may:

  • Help students locate and use information in textbooks, lab manuals, and online resources
  • Reinforce lessons and clarify course concepts introduced by the instructor
  • Share study strategies and academic success tips
  • Work individually with students who would benefit from additional support

The program is designed to complement classroom instruction while helping students build confidence and strengthen their understanding of course material.

To request an embedded tutor for your class or lab, please contact Stephanie Carter.
