The Tutoring Center coordinates CCRI’s Peer Tutor Program and hires student tutors
in a variety of subject areas. If you enjoy helping others, communicating with fellow
students, and sharing your knowledge, peer tutoring can be a rewarding and flexible
campus job opportunity.
As a peer tutor, you can create a schedule that works around your classes while gaining
valuable professional experience to add to your resume. Tutors often find that tutoring
course material also strengthens their own understanding and helps prepare them for
more advanced coursework.
Peer tutors support students by helping them better understand course concepts, develop
effective study habits, and build confidence in their academic skills. Tutors may
work with students one-on-one, in small groups, or in the classroom, depending on
the course and tutoring format.
All newly hired tutors participate in paid training that introduces tutoring strategies,
communication techniques, and ways to support a variety of student learning needs.
Throughout your time as a tutor, Tutoring Center staff and campus coordinators are
available to provide guidance and support.
For more information about becoming a peer tutor, please review the job description
and contact the Tutoring Center with any questions.
