Explore paid, hands-on opportunities in ocean science, technology, and the Blue Economy.
The Bridge to Ocean Exploration (B2OE) Program connects CCRI students with real-world, paid experiential learning opportunities
through a partnership with the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography
and the NOAA Ocean Exploration Cooperative Institute (OECI).
B2OE is a part-time, paid program that allows students from a wide range of majors to apply their skills to cutting-edge
ocean exploration projects while gaining professional experience and industry connections.
- CCRI students interested in gaining experience in:
- Computer science and programming
- Ocean exploration data science
- Ocean engineering and robotics
- 3D modeling and virtual environments
- Deep-sea biology and genetics
- Science communication and video production
No prior ocean science experience is required — just curiosity, commitment, and a
willingness to learn.
As a B2OE student, you may:
- Work on hands-on projects alongside ocean scientists, engineers, and technologists
- Use cutting-edge tools and technologies in ocean exploration
- Connect remotely with scientists during live ocean expeditions
- Visit partner facilities at URI, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), and
other sites (when possible)
- Collaborate with peers and professionals across disciplines
The Bridge to Ocean Exploration (B2OE) program offers CCRI students a paid, part-time
experiential learning opportunity with hands-on professional experience related to
their major. Students explore career pathways in the growing Blue Economy, build connections
with industry and research professionals, and participate in a virtual Blue Economy
Career Awareness Fair.
The Bridge to Ocean Exploration (B2OE) Program is open to currently enrolled CCRI
students.
