Summer Financial Aid

Visiting students matriculated at other institutions should check with the financial aid office at their home school regarding the possibility of receiving financial aid under a consortium agreement. Non-degree students are not eligible for financial aid.

Financial aid for Summer Sessions is available from these federal programs:

• Pell Grants
• Direct Loans (Annual amounts remaining after Fall 2024 and Spring 2025)
• Summer Accelerator Scholarship 2025

  • The Summer Accelerator Scholarship is intended to fast-track your path to graduation. Scholarships will cover tuition one free course in your current CCRI program of study in the Summer 2025. This is a last-dollar scholarship program that covers any tuition gaps not met by other federal and state grants/scholarships and are paid after all other financial aid resources have been awarded. You must complete the 2024-25 FAFSA to qualify.

    Eligibility

    • Be a Rhode Island resident who qualifies for in-state tuition and fees pursuant to the Residency Policy as adopted by the Council on Postsecondary Education.
    • Enrolled in a CCRI associate degree or undergraduate
    • Enrolled at CCRI anytime within the Fall 2024– Spring 2025
    • Did not earn an associate degree or bachelor’s degree,
    • Not graduating from CCRI in May
    • Not currently enrolled in a degree program at another
    • Student Aid Index (SAI) of 15000 or below

    Next Steps:

    2. Register for Summer 2025 classes beginning in April

• Comeback Scholarship
  • The CCRI Comeback Scholarship helps students who are facing an unexpected financial emergency that is creating a barrier to continued college enrollment and completion. The Comeback Scholarship assists students who were previously enrolled at CCRI to return in order to complete their program of study. If approved, students will receive assistance in an amount to cover the tuition and fee costs for up to two college courses (maximum 8 credits) after all other available state and federal funds have been exhausted. Funds are limited in availability, and eligible students with a Student Aid Index (SAI) of $15,000 and under will be reviewed on a rolling, first-come, first-awarded basis. Students who have not previously earned an Associate's or bachelor's degree are eligible to apply.

• Students who were not enrolled at any college during the previous school year may file a 2024-25 FAFSA for summer 1 and 2 sessions by June 30.
• For students graduating in spring 2025, file 2024-25 FAFSA by June 30 to receive Pell and/or RI Promise for the second summer session.
• Students who qualify for Promise may take summer courses for free.
