The Community College of Rhode Island has launched its inaugural Season of Giving, a monthlong campaign running from November 3 to December 3 aimed at supporting CCRI students and the broader Rhode Island community.

The Season of Giving reflects CCRI’s long-standing commitment to service and community engagement while addressing critical needs such as food insecurity and financial hardship among students. Throughout the month, members of the CCRI community are encouraged to participate in a variety of giving opportunities, including food drives, gift card donations, and volunteer efforts across all campuses.

The initiative includes a food drive collecting nonperishable items to benefit students and local families, a gift card drive to provide grocery and household support for those in need, and a blood drive to support patients in need and bring hope to families during the holidays.

Donation bins and collection points are available across CCRI’s campuses. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are all invited to participate.

The campaign culminates at Hasbro Children’s Hospital on December 3 with the cherished Good Night Lights tradition. Local organizations and community members shine flashlights, headlights, and other lights toward the hospital to send visible messages of hope and solidarity to children and families receiving care.

The full event schedule is as follows:

  • Gift Card Drive, Newport Campus (Nov. 3 – Dec. 3)
  • Food Drive, All campuses (Nov. 3 – Dec. 3)
  • Blood Drive, Warwick and Lincoln campuses (Nov. 18, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
  • Good Night Lights, Hasbro Children’s Hospital (8 p.m. – 9 p.m.)

By uniting in this effort, CCRI hopes to strengthen its mission of putting students first and fostering a culture of compassion and community service.
