Warwick, R.I. – Nine student-athletes from the Community College of Rhode Island have earned All-Academic
honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for the 2025–26
seasons, highlighting CCRI Athletics’ continued commitment to excellence in and out
of the classroom. The NJCAA All-Academic Teams recognize student-athletes with a GPA
of 3.60 or higher.
“I couldn’t be prouder of our student-athletes who have earned Academic All-American
honors,” said CCRI Director of Athletics, Recreation and Wellness Ashley Casiano.
“Their dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence extend far beyond the
playing field. They have demonstrated that success in athletics and achievement in
the classroom can go hand in hand. Congratulations – you represent our department
with pride.”
CCRI’s All-Academic selections for 2025–26 are:
First Team

Second Team
- John Mastorakis; Bozrah, CT; baseball; 3.96; business management
- Sophia Valentini; Westerly, RI; softball; 3.96; general studies
- Hannah Carlotto; Barrington, RI; women’s soccer; 3.91; pre-diagnostic medical sonography
- Emma Harding; West Kingston, RI; women’s basketball; 3.8; fine arts
Third Team
- Brandon Castillo; Pawtucket, RI; men’s soccer; 3.71; financial services
- Genesis McNeill; Cumberland, RI; women’s basketball; 3.7; general studies
- Kayli Sherlock; Warwick, RI; volleyball; 3.6; general business
“I am very proud of these student-athletes for what they accomplished in the classroom,”
said CCRI Student Athlete Enhancement & Compliance Officer and head men’s basketball
coach Mike Romano. “Being a student-athlete is an awesome experience but comes with
a huge time-commitment to their respective teams. I commend their ability to manage
their time and effort to excel in both areas here at CCRI.”
