Warwick, R.I. – The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) will host its fifth annual Cybersecurity
Night on Wednesday, April 15, at its Warwick campus.
The event begins at 6 p.m. in the Great Hall. It offers current and prospective students
a chance to learn about CCRI's Cybersecurity degree programs, network with industry
partners, and celebrate recent Cyber Defense Certificate graduates.
A pre-event demonstration area opens at 5:30 p.m. This early session features hands-on
activities led by the CCRI Cybersecurity Student Club and Rogers High School students,
plus an informational showcase from the Rhode Island Computer Museum.
Following the demonstrations, attendees will hear from two featured speakers:
- Louis DiPalma, Rhode Island State Senator and Chair of the Senate Finance Committee
- Christopher Eden, Head of Information Security and Technology at People’s Credit Union
Both speakers will share valuable insights into this growing field and offer advice
on navigating a cybersecurity career.
The event is free and open to anyone interested in the cybersecurity field. To reserve
a spot, attendees can register online through the CCRI Cybersecurity page.
CCRI’s NSA-recognized Cybersecurity associate degree program provides the hands-on
training needed to prepare students for high-demand tech jobs. It also offers current
industry professionals a way to update their skills and meet modern employer demands.
Cybersecurity Night comes on the heels of the CCRI Cybersecurity Club's recent success at the National Cyber League (NCL) Fall 2025 competition. The club placed 29th nationally
out of 490 colleges and universities in the final Cyber Power Rankings, ranking second
among all community colleges and second among all schools in New England.
The CCRI Cyber Knights will be traveling to the University of South Florida from April
17 – 19 to compete in the National Centers of Academic Excellence (NCAE) Invitational
Cyber Games. CCRI is the only community college nationwide to earn a seat at this
competition. The Invitational is intentionally designed as a premier learning experience.
Selection is based not only on strong performance at regional events, but also on
a team’s demonstrated commitment to growth, collaboration, sportsmanship, and overall
engagement in the competition.
CCRI’s inclusion in this select group reflects both the strength of our program’s
performance and our readiness to take full advantage of this advanced, hands-on learning
opportunity -- placing us among the top programs in the nation.
