WARWICK, R.I. -- The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) is proud to announce that Naudy Vasquez, a student pursuing an Associate in Science in Business with an Accounting concentration, has been awarded the Dr. Andrew V. Stevenson International Merit Scholarship through the Kappa Beta Delta (KBD) International Business Honor Society.

Vasquez earned the highly competitive scholarship following a strong letter of recommendation from Maureen Murray, Assistant Professor Department of Business and Professional Studies, as well as support from Joanne Orabone, Professor of Accounting and Management. The Dr. Andrew V. Stevenson International Merit Scholarship, awarded to just 12 students across the country, is designed to recognize and support outstanding business students at two-year institutions who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and promise.

“As an instructor in the Business Department at CCRI for over thirty years, I have taught a variety of students,” Professor Orabone said. “Naudy is one of those students that faculty are fortunate to have in their class. He is always well prepared for class and actively participates in class discussions. Naudy is a hard-working, motivated student who has both the ability and the drive to be successful in college. He demonstrates a great deal of promise, and I have confidence that he will succeed in his future endeavors.”

Currently residing in Providence, Vasquez has established an impressive academic record during his time at CCRI. He is an active member of the KBD International Business Honor Society and is a consistent member of CCRI Dean’s List, including for the Spring 2026 semester.

“Receiving the 2026 KBD Regional Scholarship Award is a sublime honor and privilege,” Vasquez said. “This achievement, to me, means that my equation is working: Discipline plus consistency = success.”

Vasquez is currently on track to complete his CCRI studies during the Fall 2026 semester. Upon earning his associate degree, he plans to transfer to Rhode Island College to complete a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, alongside dual minors in Finance and Data/Business Analytics.

His long-term professional aspirations include acquiring both his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) credentials. Ultimately, Vasquez aims to build a specialized financial advisory and accounting data analytics practice right here in Rhode Island.
