CCRI Foundation and Alumni Association elects two new members to its Board of Trustees

The Community College of Rhode Island Foundation and Alumni Association have elected Sergio Sousa, Regional Vice President of Marketing for Ballys Twin River Lincoln Casino Resort and Ballys Tiverton Casino & Hotel to the Alumni Association Assembly, and Rhode Island attorney, Rebecca E. Dupras, Esq., of Dupras Law, to the Board of Trustees.

Sousa earned his associate degree in Business Administration from CCRI in 2004 and has 25 years of experience in the casino industry, beginning in 1999. Sousa has held a variety of roles at Bally’s Twin River, including serving as Bally’s Director of Marketing and Regional Executive Director of Marketing, before starting his current role as Regional Vice President of Marketing in 2022. Today, Sousa oversees 10 departments across both Rhode Island properties with a team of more than 200 employees and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for the casino marketing departments, including Advertising, Database, Entertainment, Promotions, Player Development, Players Club, and Retail.

Sousa was a Providence Business News 40 Under 40 honoree in 2016 and was also inducted into CCRI’s Society of Knights and Squires as part of the Foundation and Alumni Association’s 2022 Outstanding Alumni Awards.

Dupras graduated from CCRI in 1998 with her associate degree in Paralegal Studies, where she finished with a 4.0 GPA and was the President of the Student Paralegal Association, and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science from Roger Williams University and her Doctor of Law (JD) from Suffolk University Law School.

Dupras began her career as an attorney in 2006 as an associate at Moses Afonso Ryan, Ltd., dealing in Estate Planning litigation, which remains her area of focus today. She was also an associate at Orson & Brusini, Ltd., before launching her own law firm in 2011, Dupras Law, which specializes in Planning Services, Administration & Guardianship Services, and Nursing Home and Medicaid Planning.

Dupras has also served as the Vice President of Development at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and Director of Gift Planning for Georgetown University, in addition to her development role at the Rhode Island Foundation. She is a national speaker on topics focused on charitable planning and legacy giving.

Executive Director of the CCRI Foundation Bobby Gondola said, “We are thrilled to welcome two new members, and the Foundation’s work will greatly benefit from their expertise. Rebecca and Sergio’s talent marks two important milestones for continued growth: Implementation of the largest gift in the college’s history as well as increased fundraising for CCRI’s endowment to support students through scholarships, books, and emergency funding. How proud we all are that our newest leaders hail from CCRI’s powerful alumni network.”
