Financial Literacy

Don't know where to start? No problem! Educational Talent Search believes that financial literacy is crucial for high school students as it equips them with essential skills for managing their personal finances effectively. We have a variety of activities to help student understand concepts like budgeting, saving, investing, and credit management. We have seen first hand how being familiarized with these concept can empower students to make informed decisions that will positively impact their future financial stability.

Financial Literacy Activities Activity Description
Credit Card 101 This presentation was designed to help students understand credit. This resource covers the basics of what credit is, how credit cards work, and the different types of credit cards available. It also provides guidance on using credit responsibly and tips to avoid common pitfalls and bad situations involving credit. By breaking down these concepts, the presentation aims to equip students with the knowledge they need to manage their credit effectively and build a solid financial foundation for their future.
Crossword Puzzle Our financial literacy crossword puzzle is a fun and interactive tool designed to help high school students become familiar with key financial terms and concepts. Each clue in the puzzle corresponds to a financial term, such as "budget," "interest," or "investment," and the answers fit into a grid of horizontal and vertical spaces. By solving the puzzle, students reinforce their understanding of important financial concepts and learn how to apply these terms in real-world scenarios. It’s an engaging way to build financial literacy skills and vocabulary.
College Financial Comparison In this activity, students compare the costs of three different college financial aid packages to determine which is the most cost-effective. Each package includes details like scholarships, grants, work-study, and loans. Students calculate the total cost for each package, considering both the immediate financial aid and any future repayment obligations. This helps them understand how different forms of aid affect their overall college expenses and financial planning. The goal is to make informed decisions about which package provides the best balance of support and affordability.
Fill In The Blank (Credit 101) In this activity, students complete a "fill-in-the-blank" exercise to test their knowledge of credit cards. Each blank is accompanied by a sentence describing a concept related to credit cards, such as "Interets Rate," "credit limit," or "minimum payment." Students must fill in the blanks with the correct terms based on their understanding of how credit cards work. This activity helps reinforce key concepts and vocabulary related to credit cards in an engaging and interactive way.
