Public Safety - Certificate

The Public Safety Readiness Certificate is designed to enhance the preparedness and successful completion of a fire or law enforcement academy applicant. Embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion, this certificate offers pre-academy, credit-bearing courses in general and introductory fields of study. Students will begin to learn the knowledge and skills needed to serve and protect the community. 

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, a student will be able to:

  1. Student will demonstrate mastery of fundamental math concepts
  2. Student will exhibit competency with written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  3. Student will be an active participant in the development of individualized fitness programs
  4. Student will explain issues related to individual behaviors, group dynamics, social instutions, and social inequality
  5. Student will gain an understanding of the service organization and duties for the fire safety and law enforcement professions
  6. Student will demonstrate basic emergency care of physical and mental health needs of a client
