About
Michael Kelly has been a dedicated member of the Community College of Rhode Island community for over 40 years, currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Computer Studies Department as well as the Director of the Cybersecurity Program.
As Director of the Cybersecurity Program, Michael serves as the Point of Contact to the National Security Agency (NSA) for the college’s CAE-CD designation. Michael also serves on the CAE CoP (Community of Practice) Steering Committee as an At-Large member and is also a member of the CAE-CD Community Outreach Competition Committee. He is the architect of the college’s Cybersecurity Program, developing the program in 2016 and spearheading the college’s efforts in achieving their original CAE-CD designation in 2018. Michael also led the effort to achieve CCRI’s 2023 CAE-CD redesignation. In addition to his role in leading the Cybersecurity Program, Michael is the advisor for the student Cybersecurity Club and oversees CCRI’s Cyber Range. He has been instrumental in developing content on the range for both academic and workforce training.
Before assuming his current role, Michael held a variety of positions in the college, including Computer Studies Department Chair, and various roles in his time as a member of CCRI’s Information Technology department beginning as a Programmer/Analyst and culminating with acting as the Manager of Systems Development prior to his transition to faculty.
