The AI Literacy Outcomes Task Group completed its work in S2026. It developed AI literacy
outcomes to be used when faculty choose to offer an AI-enhanced course. These outcomes
will assess student learning of AI skills, much as CCRI already assesses general education,
course, and program outcomes. Specifics about the process for approving courses to
be designated "AI-enhanced" will begin F2026 when a new Task Group is reconvened for
that purpose.
AI Literacy Outcomes
By the end of an AI-enhanced course, students will be able to:
- Identify and explain fundamental concepts of AI (e.g., generative AI, machine learning), including their capabilities, limitations, potential biases.
- Critically assess AI-generated content for accuracy, bias, and relevance and verify or revise it to meet academic or professional standards.
- Choose the appropriate AI tool for a task; craft, analyze, and refine effective prompts to get useful results; and ensure human authorship, originality, individual voice, and data privacy.
- Apply institutional and disciplinary guidelines for ethical AI use, including requirements for transparency, proper citation, and responsible decision-making to distinguish acceptable assistance from misconduct.
- Analyze the individual, socioeconomic, and environmental impacts of AI – prioritizing privacy and equity—to inform thoughtful and responsible engagement with artificial intelligence.
