Cardoso leads CCRI at PenMen Relays!

Warwick, R.I. – July 16, 2016: The CCRI men's and women's track team traveled to Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH on Saturday to compete in the PenMen Relays. CCRI did not score any team points at this event. Assumption College won the women's meet with 138.5 points narrowly edging host SNHU who had 138.0 team points. On the men's side Colby College won with 147 team points.

Kelder Cardoso (Pawtucket, RI) was the only male competing for CCRI and had an excellent meet with a season-best time in the 800m of two minutes 12.70 seconds. He returned to run the Mile run placing 14th in a career-best time of 5:00.31. Cardoso finished his day by placing 18th in the Javelin with a throw of 36.90 meters.

For the Lady Knights Saramarie Cerullo (Smithfield, RI) had a very good meet placing 38th in the Mile run with season-best time of 6:33.03. Also having an excellent meet was Courtney Ludovici (Burrillville, RI) 21st place Javelin 24.44. Rounding out the meet for the Lady Knights was sophomore Allison Lenox (North Kingstown, RI) whom placed 13th in the Triple Jump with a season-best 10.26m jump.

Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the meet: "Some great efforts by the few athletes who were able to make it for the meet. Kelder ran great in the mile and 800m. Allison is getting back to form in her triple jump."

The next meet for CCRI will be this Saturday the 21st when they will travel to Fitchburg State University to compete in the James Sheehan Invitational beginning at 10:00am.
