Lenox Leaps to Top of NJCAA TJ Rankings at Loeschner Invite in Fitchburg!

Warwick, R.I. – July 23, 2016: On Saturday the CCRI Track and Field Teams traveled to Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA to compete in the Fitchburg State "Eric Loeschner" Invitational. This was a non-scoring meet so there were no team scores but there were some excellent performances put forth by CCRI.

Leading the way for the Lady Knights was sophomore Allison Lenox (North Kingstown, RI) who won the Triple Jump with a career-best 10.60m jump and is now ranked No. 1 by the NJCAA in Division III Track & Field. Also having an excellent meet was Courtney Ludovici (Burrillville, RI) who placed 2nd in the Javelin throw with a 24.68m toss. Ludovici returned to place 12th in the 200m with a time of 31.50 seconds. Sophomore Victoria Anderson (Manville, RI) placed 3rd in the 400m hurdles in a time of one minute 17.38 seconds. Rounding out the Lady Knights top performers was Saramarie Cerullo (Smithfield, RI) placed 12th in the 1,500m run with a season best time of 6:02.08.

For the Knights Alexander Mowry (Warwick, RI) placed 4th in the 400m with a season-best time of 55.34 seconds. Mowry returned to place 8th in the 200m with a time of 24.76 seconds. Kelder Cardoso (Pawtucket, RI) placed 6th in the Javelin with a toss of 40.09m. Then Cardoso placed 12th in the 800m with a time of 2:12.61 and rounded out his day by placing 18th in the 200m with a time of 26.23.

Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the Meet: "Great meet for the Knights and Lady Knights with season-best and career-best efforts for some and solid finishes for most that competed."
