Warwick, R.I. – April 2, 2018: The CCRI Track & Field Athletes traveled to Eastern Connecticut State College to compete in the Early Invitational on Friday. The Knights competed well but failed to score as a team because scoring was limited to top six placements which is unusual since it was an eight lane track but never the less some nice early season performances by the Knights and Lady Knights.

Leading the way for CCRI was Victoria Anderson (Manville, RI) who ran a 17.67 seconds finishing eighth in a National Qualifying time in the 100m hurdles which was a good job for her first Outdoor meet of season. Anderson returned to run a one minute 19.58 seconds National Qualifying time in the 400m hurdles where she also finished eighth. On the Men's side Alex Mowry (Warwick, RI) who proved he is a strong sprinter by running all three sprint events. Mowry placed 12th in the 200m in 24.41 seconds, 13th in the 100m in 12.07 seconds and 8th in the 400m in a time of 55.29 seconds in his first time running the 400m.

Also performing well for CCRI was Kelder Cardoso (Pawtucket, RI) who finished 8th place in 4:46.18 in the 1,500m race then returned to finish 14th in the 800m race in 2:18.81. Cardoso finished his day by finishing 21st in the 200m in 25.81 seconds. Sophomore Allison Lenox (North Kingstown, RI) finished 7th in the 200m in 28.66 best placement for Knights on the day. Lenox returned to finish 13th in the 800m in 2:48.36. Courtney Ludovici (Burrillville, RI) also had a very good day with a 9th place finish in the Javelin Throw with a 25.52m throw which is very good for so early in the season. Courtney also finished 23rd in the 200m in a nice time of 31.38 showing tremendous improvement. Rounding out the CCRI competitors was Mike Dutka (Chepachet, RI) who 18th in the 1,500m in 4:52.99 then finished 25th in the 800m in a time of 2:28.81. Both were very good times for Dutka who is getting back into the swing of things after taking off the indoor season.
