Two More Qualify for Nationals at Corsair Classic!

Warwick, R.I. – April 9, 2018: The CCRI Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams traveled to UMass-Dartmouth in Dartmouth, MA to compete in the UMass-Dartmouth Corsair Classic Friday evening. The Knights tied for 13th with three points and the Lady Knights finished 10th with 12 points. Bridgewater State won the men's side with 195 total points and UMass-Dartmouth won the women's side with 158 total points.

For the second meet in a row sophomore Victoria Anderson (Manville, RI) led the Lady Knights placing 3rd in 100m hurdles with a season-best time of 17.53 seconds. Anderson returned to run a season-best time in the 400m hurdles placing 6th in the time of one minute 17.52 seconds.

For the Knights Kelder Cardoso (Pawtucket, RI) placed 9th in the Javelin throw with a NJCAA Division III National Qualifying mark of 44.35m. Cardoso also placed 17th in the 800m race in a time of 2:16.71. He was not done there as he placed 24th in the 1,500m with a time of 4:51.61. Kelder capped his day with a 28th place finish in the 200m with a time of 26.06 seconds.

The Lady Knights also had some other excellent performances including Allison Lenox (North Kingstown, RI) who placed 5th in the Triple Jump with a NJCAA Division III qualifying jump of 9.65m. Lenox then placed 10th in the 400m race in a time of 1:09.27 and the Allison placed 15th in the 200m race in a time of 30.11 seconds. Also having a good day for the CCRI women was Courtney Ludovici (Burrillville, RI) who placed 11th in the Javelin throw with a mark of 24.32m and placed 23rd in the 200m run with a time of 31.71 seconds. Rounding out the Lady Knights squad was Saramarie Cerullo (Smithfield, RI) who placed 22nd in the 1,500m race in a time of 6:22.01

Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the Meet: "The CCRI Athletes are improving as the season moves on. I am looking forward to warmer days to enhance some of these great performances."

The next meet for CCRI will be this Saturday the 14th when they travel to Southern New Hampshire University to compete in the PenMen Relays beginning at 10:00am.
